IT Business Solutions – Life & Health delivers business value through the management of IT projects and products for Munich Re´s life and Health (L&H) businesses. We have a mix of products that support these businesses, and the goal is to provide stable services while partnering with the business to drive the product strategy through enhancements and projects. The Senior Product Manager, Business Solutions L&H, will play a key role in the management, operations and support of Life and Health applications used regionally and globally. The role will report to the Head of IT Solution Delivery (EMEA), Business Solutions L&H and be a key technology partner to business application owners. As an active member of a global delivery team this role is responsible for ensuring application team(s) are positioned to consistently deliver high quality results based on industry & Munich Re standard solutions, to cover the financial and reinsurance operations capabilities of the L&H business.
As a Senior Product Manager you will manage larger scale and complex IT products that support one or more lines of business, including managing the demand process and consulting business colleagues to lead both tactical and strategic development. You’ll lead an agile team comprised of architects, business analysts, quality assurance and development resources, all focused on achieving the team’s goals. In this role, you will own and manage the product lifecycle including functional releases and IT upgrades, to maintain compliance, performance and ‘fit for purpose’ business functionality. You will be responsible for the secure and stable ‘run’ of the product as well as for the product costs.
Your job
- Be responsible for the product lifecycle of complex L&H applications.
- Manage business requirements and consulting with business application owners to support business strategy, using technical and application innovation knowledge.
- Plan and align application roadmaps with business application owners and stakeholders on target architecture, including necessary technical and security refactoring and cluster budget planning.
- Initiate projects or conducting implementation of change requests, planning and executing application releases, conducting sign-off procedures.
- Support all product management responsibilities related to audit, vulnerability management, SAA, VAPT, LeanIX, CMDB, SNOW, IAT, IAM and IRM (These are compliance tasks that need to be adhered to in Munich Re).
- Manage product team resources, assignments and delivery targets in accordance with product plans, strategic objectives and day-to-day operations.
- Know all relevant technical and functional details of the application, including interfaces to other applications.
- Support transitions of newly developed or enhanced products from project to production.
- Keep all information up to date to run and develop the application including SLA with business.
- Ensure the stable run of the application, including setup and management of run, support, incident and monitoring processes aligned with the needs of the business, escalates and manages solutions for major incidents.
- Support DR planning, coordination, testing and scheduling.
- Constantly checking incident volume incl. root causes and infrastructure settings to setup necessary improvement measures.
- Manage application financials including plans, forecasts and operational budgets.
- Conduct and update RACE and checks that the application is running secure.
- Manage software licenses needed for the application.
- Know and manage application costs and budgets.
- Manage relationship with stakeholders and third parties.
- Actively oversee delivery of transform projects related to enhancing the product, to ensure that they are on time and budget, and that they meet or exceed business expectations for quality.
Your profile
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science / Engineering or similar qualification.
- Proven experience in managing, leading and inspiring teams and an ability to coordinate the efforts of others in the delivery of IT initiatives to the business. Engender a spirit of teamwork and cooperation amongst colleagues – proactively resolve issues or conflicts that could impact results achieved.
- Knowledge or experience with insurance, analytics, actuarial and modeling solutions.
- A strategic thinker that is results oriented, with a proven ability to analyze situations, diagnose problems, identify the key issues, establish and weigh up alternative courses of action and produce a logical, practical and acceptable solution.
- Strong business acumen and a proven capacity to understand the business opportunities and priorities of the organization and constantly seek methods of ensuring that the organization continues to be business-like and continues to meet the standards and requirements of its regulators.
- Necessary gravitas to deal with senior business owners with SME and expert presence.
- In depth knowledge of IT SDLC and product management as well as proficient understanding of the principles and frameworks of successful project management and agile development.
- Proven experience owning business and partner/vendor relationships.
- Negotiation and influencing skills. Experience in a global, complex organization is an asset.
- High level of service and internal/external client orientation as well as driver of innovation for IT Business Solutions and operational efficiency.
- Cost and budget management skills.
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Collaborative working style, creating a culture of accountability and sharing.
- Advanced knowledge of development, test management and project management tools
- Excellent command of written and spoken business English.
