We manage our clients’ business targets with various corporate finance and risk management techniques, e.g. by means of structured reinsurance, hedging, and other transactions.
We are extending our capabilities in Europe and are looking for an experienced (life insurance) actuary with profound accounting and regulation expertise who is able to develop and advise on reinsurance structures and related transactions, by deriving conclusions how to optimize cedants´ capital position. This is an intellectually challenging and rewarding role for someone with deep knowledge in accounting concepts, Solvency II, financial mathematics, and capabilities to efficiently transform theoretical knowledge into practical solutions.
Your Job
- Supporting the business structuring and execution efforts mainly in Europe (key markets are Germany, Italy, France) through highly creative transactional problem solving attitude and analytical skills on accounting and regulatory implications.
- Integrating and working in our global accounting and regulation team in view of IFRS, Solvency II and local GAAP implications.
- Bridging mathematical and actuarial aspects with the requirements by accounting rules.
- Developing reinsurance product concepts and structures with focus on accounting and regulatory aspects.
- Advising multiple stakeholders – internal and client – on accounting and regulatory issues pertaining to transactions.
- Participating actively as a member of deal teams, working with both local and global staff.
- Monitoring insurance accounting developments in particular in the focus countries and deriving conclusions for Munich Re Markets’ solutions landscape.
- Interfacing fluidly across the division’s origination, structuring and trading functions.
- Preparing technical documentation to support new transactions.
Your Profile
- University degree in mathematics, physics or similar.
- Actuarial education completed (focus either accounting or financial mathematics).
- Working experience connected to the insurance or reinsurance industries; employed with a consulting, auditing, insurance/reinsurance firm or other financial institution.
- Deep understanding of IFRS accounting concepts (focus IFRS 17). Experience in working with auditing firms and the national insurance regulators in one or more of the relevant legislations.
- Conceptual knowledge of Solvency II and local GAAP in at least one of the target markets together with the ability to translate these concepts to related regime (e.g. ICS).
- Familiar with concepts of structured and non-traditional reinsurance solutions and financial derivatives.
- Independent, proactive and a strong team player with the desire to work on, and contribute to the success of, a global team.
- Intellectually curious, with excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Persuasive and credible – ability to initiate and maintain own client interactions.
