Munich Re Specialty Group North America (MRSG N.A.) is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us as we grow. We are seeking a full time Senior Public Entity Cyber / Tech E&O Underwriter to join the Munich Re Specialty Group Insurance Services (SIS) division either to be a hybrid employee in one of our US regional offices or a remote employee reporting to US Head of Cyber Insurance.

 

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing national cyber insurance underwriting team in the US market, underwriting as a coverholder for Munich Re Lloyd's syndicate. In a lead underwriting role, you will be responsible for assessing and evaluating public entity risks and growing a profitable book of business. The role may evolve to include managerial responsibilities in building a team of underwriters to assist in the maintenance and growth of the portfolio. With a particular focus on public entities, the role also entails underwriting cross-industry and sector (SME/Mid Market/Risk Management) Tech E&O and standalone Cyber insurance, as well as offering risk mitigation solutions to clients in North America.

 

Job Profile

• Lead Public Entity underwriter to analyze and assess potential risks associated with cyber threats and vulnerabilities for public entities, including higher-ed, large municipalities, and other public institutions
• Understand the security architecture for Public Entities
• Assist in the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures
• Responsible for developing new business production and broker relationships
• Stay updated with emerging cyber threats, industry trends, and regulatory changes to ensure accurate risk evaluation and underwriting practices
• Interacting with vendor partners for the service delivery and security solutions to be offered to policyholders
• Working with the US Head of Cyber/Tech E&O and Munich Re Syndicate in developing new product offerings for the US market
• In conjunction with Munich Re syndicate and actuarial resources, support the current and future development of data capturing/rating platforms
• Deliver thought leadership within the Public Entity/Cyber Insurance industry by supporting both external press interviews and creating/delivering marketing collateral
• Determining terms, conditions, and complex rating plans
• Support the underwriting team as an internal expert resource on technical exposures

 

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional lines/specialty insurance/risk management knowledge, specifically in the Public Entity sector
• Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree or certifications strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cyber risk management principles and practices
• Knowledge of insurance policy language and coverage terms related to cyber risks
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills to assess risks and determine appropriate coverage
• Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders
• Proficiency in using underwriting threat awareness and detection tools & techniques
• Strong track record of working with brokers and clients, fostering strong relationships, and developing new distribution channels
• Innovative, entrepreneurial thinker offering creative product ideas
• Strong interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to travel
