The Opportunity The QA Test Lead reports to the Head of Enterprise Platforms of Munich Re Specialty Insurance. This person will own the relationship with any testing partners and be the liaison to our QA Central Testing Competency (CTC). He / she will work with our project teams and the CTC to ensure our testing needs are being met. This will include collaborating on testing strategies, frameworks, implementation and architecture with a focus on test automation using various tools or technologies.
Responsibilities This position is accountable for Software Quality Assurance across various projects and working with the CTC to ensure early engagement of testing in project initiation and the implementation of test planning and execution processes. This role will oversee the MRSNA testing portfolio. The role involves working with the CTC to ensure overall quality of projects and programs, delivery of timely status reports on quality, and promptly identifying and escalating risks and issues. - Collaborate with Project/Program Managers and the CTC to comprehend project requirements, schedules, and scopes.
- Engage with Business Analysts to understand requirements, estimate testing efforts, and forecast test resources.
- Develop Testing Strategy and test plans; closely collaborating with the CTC to create and execute test cases, as well as review testing artifacts.
- Work with the CTC to stablish various test metrics to effectively showcase project quality.
- Partner with CTC and Agile Practice Leads to ensure the implementation of Munich RE testing guidelines and processes.
- Work with Test Automation and Performance testing leads to ensure those services are used appropriately across projects.
- Provide support and coordination for User Acceptance Testing (UAT); collaborate with business teams to enforce a standardized UAT methodology and establish processes for tracking UAT progress.
- Test Strategy: Collaborate with CTC, business analysts, product owners, and other stakeholders to understand user requirements and define test strategy based on the set objectives and program scope.
- Adherence to Standards: Ensure the CTC follows established testing standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes within the organization.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to resolve defects and clarify requirements. Communicate effectively to ensure a shared understanding of issues and their resolutions.
- User Feedback: Gather feedback from end-users and stakeholders, incorporating their input into the testing process and helping to prioritize test cases based on real-world usage.
- KPI’s/ Acceptance Criteria Verification: Ensure that the software or system meets the predefined acceptance criteria and aligns with the business requirements.
- Measures and Metrics: Work with the CTC to identify measures and metrics delivered through an efficient reporting process to enable transparency of QA items such as defect density, test automation coverage, etc.
- Test Automation: Collaborate with the automation testing team to identify opportunities for test automation and contribute to the development of automated test scripts.
- Release Validation: Participate in the validation of release candidates to confirm that they are ready for deployment to production.
- Communication: Work with the CTC to provide regular updates on testing progress, status reports, and any roadblocks or challenges encountered during testing.
- Proactively partner with business and technology organizations across system and organizational boundaries to identify opportunities and drive automated solutions.
- Non-functional testing: Understanding of NFR’s including Performance Engineering, Usability, Security and Disaster Recovery testing.
- Technology experience: Understanding of database testing and API/Integration testing.
- Test Case Design: Review and approve the detailed test cases and test scripts based on user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria. Ensure that test cases cover all relevant scenarios and user interactions.
- Test Execution: Review and approve the test cases and test scripts, following established testing procedures and test schedules.
- Exploratory Testing: Use exploratory testing techniques to uncover unexpected issues or usability problems that predefined test cases may not cover
- Participate in and support internal and external application security and compliance audits
Qualifications: - Possess 7+ years of progressive experience in Software Testing and Quality Assurance, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience as a Test Lead.
- Showcase expertise in Test design and execution.
- Proficient in facilitating the defects management process and adept at leading meetings to closure.
- Exhibit substantial experience in QA test planning, strategy development, and execution.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of professional experience.
- Display the ability to identify process gaps and effectively implement solutions within projects.
- Experience in effectively managing a range of tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience in Property & Casualty Insurance, preferably Specialty Insurance, is a plus
- Hands on with agile project management tools like Azure DevOps and JIRA
- Experience in the test automation – Selenium C# is a plus
- Proven track record in excellent negotiation, communication, and engagement at multiple levels
- Strong ability to communicate with technical and non-technical teams
- Ability to engage, challenge, and influence stakeholders to achieve productive solutions.
- Knowledge of product lifecycle management principles and practices.
- Experience with Agile delivery frameworks (e.g. Scrum, SAFe) a major plus.
