As a valued intern with our Personal Lines Underwriting team, you will:
Support the underwriting team in evaluating risks associated with property and casualty insurance applications, including property inspection reviews, agent correspondence, endorsements, renewal activity. Review and analyze risk factors, including property values, loss histories, and industry-specific risks.
Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance your understanding of underwriting practices and the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
Continuously develop and strengthen the skills required for success in the Insurance Industry, including presentation skills, sales partner collaboration, professionalism, and teamwork.
Input and update data into underwriting systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Assist in analyzing data trends and preparing reports.
Conduct research on underwriting process efficiencies and best practices, such as reviewing aspects of project or operational outputs and outcomes, analyzing various sets of data for potential recommendations for change or solutions to given issues. Identify areas for process improvement, assist in developing strategies, and support the implementation of enhancements.
Participate fully with other team members by actively asking questions, providing perspectives answers, and assisting teammates as appropriate.
Gather and organize data and information from a variety of sources in order to assist in deep dive research projects, such as sales partner performance, drivers of claims, and risk mitigation.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or graduate’s degree with a focus in Insurance, Integrated Risk Management, Finance/Accounting, Data Analytics, or other related major a plus.
Experience with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and time management skills required
Ability to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks
Strong interest in the insurance industry
Ability to work independently and in group settings
Authorized to work in the United States of America
Candidates must be local (Cincinnati, OH) and will work in the office at least two days a week.
