Munich Re Beijing Branch, part of Munich Re, the world's largest reinsurer, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Claims Specialist to provide technical expertise, manage complex claims across Greater China, and collaborate strategically to ensure efficient claims resolutions. The successful candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, in-depth knowledge of technical and market procedures, and the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to drive success.
The position is based in Beijing and reports to Head of Claims, P&C Greater China.
YOUR ROLE
- Lead the implementation of the new Global Claims Set-up and actively contribute to advancing Munich Re’s Global Claims Ambition 2025+.
- Independently manage single large, complex property and engineering claims across Greater China, adhering to claims handling guidelines. Provide proactive claims management, including technical and legal analysis, and make decisions regarding indemnity within the authority limits.
- Contribute to Munich Re’s thought leadership and market presence strategy. Engage with clients in Greater China with a consultative, value-driven approach, providing bespoke solutions when necessary.
- Identify key business needs of internal stakeholders and recommend improvements to underwriting quality, based on insights from claims, client behaviour, and claims trend analysis. Assist in drafting and refining policy clauses.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with key clients, brokers, and partners in the Greater China market, contributing to business growth and strategic initiatives.
- Manage claims reporting requirements from regulatory bodies and internal management.
- Oversee the claims portfolio, including managing natural catastrophe (Nat Cat) claims.
- Conduct claims audits, reviews, and due diligence for clients, and participate in industry meetings as required.
- Drive continuous improvement in claims management processes, enhancing operational efficiency in line with digital transformation initiatives.
- Review anomaly cases and ensure compliance with service standards, monitoring key claims triggers and ensuring performance alignment.
YOUR PROFILE
- A university degree or relevant professional qualification in Engineering, with 10+ years of experience in claims management or as a loss adjuster.
- Extensive experience in managing large-scale property and engineering insurance claims with good network in claims community.
- Knowledge of reinsurance and primary insurance claims processes.
- Strategic thinking with a proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members. A proactive, self-driven work ethic, combined with a collaborative and solutions-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply critical thinking in complex scenarios.
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with a strong decision-making capability.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential.
- Willingness to travel.
