Financial Compliance is a division in the Finance / Accounting department of American Modern that performs testing to validate compliance with various Financial and Accounting compliance requirements and standards, specifically Model Audit Rule (MAR) and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX). Initiatives are underway to automate this testing using Python, and additional technologies including, but not limited to structured query language (SQL), application program interfaces (APIs), and PowerBI. To further support this initiative, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with experience in Python programming and other technologies. Employees are typically in the office 40-50% of the time to allow for face to face collaboration. Candidates must be located near our corporate office (Amelia, OH).
Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and maintain complex Python scripts to automate testing in various areas of Insurance.
- Derive and determine technical and functional specifications from previous documented testing.
- Meet with internal clients to understand and document business processes to translate into technical and functional requirements.
- Develop SQL queries to extract, filter, and manipulate data from source systems and data warehouses to support testing requirements.
- Develop integrations between American Modern and vendor systems using REST API integrations using and Python.
- Develop PowerBI dashboards for result, summary, and trend reporting.
- Document code, processes, and procedures for internal audit and external regulatory requirements.
- Maintain relationships with stakeholders and communicate results on a regular basis.
- Communicate status and progress of current progress to manager and internal team on a regular basis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related fields.
- Proficient in Python programming, including, but not limited to libraries, such as Pandas, SQLAlchemy, Requests, OracleDB / cx_Oracle. Three or more years of experience in Python development is preferred.
- Experience in managing a Python environment via Pip.
- Experience with Git and GitHub for version control of code.
- Proficient in SQL and experience with both Oracle and MS SQL Server database syntaxes.
- Experience configuring and calling REST APIs is a plus.
- Experience with Azure DevOps and Service Now is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with PowerBI. Additional experience with Power Automate is a plus.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with internal clients and as a team, documenting processes, and translating them into technical and functional requirements.
- Knowledge of software development (SDLC) methodologies.
