HSB Solomon Associates LLC (Solomon), a subsidiary of Hartford Steam Boiler and Munich Re, is seeking candidates for a Principal Technical Manager – Energy position to work in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment. BASIC FUNCTION
The Principal Technical Manager is responsible for providing guidance and analysis to assigned industry segment Comparative Performance Analysis™ (CPA™) studies and lead selected consulting projects and engagements. This position resides in the Sustainability and Strategic Insights Business Unit and is integral to the overall management of benchmark studies. This position can be based in one of Solomon’s primary office locations (Houston, Dallas, London UK or Bahrain). Solomon offers a hybrid work schedule. This position may be open to a remote working arrangement if the candidate is not located near one of our offices.
RESPONSIBLITIES
- Technical Roadmap
- Steward the technical roadmap of the assigned CPA study to enable long-term market growth and business objectives
- Own and lead enhancement of the assigned CPA study technical scope, benchmarking methodology & calculations, and study insight generation
- Industry Trends & Market Intelligence
- Maintain knowledge of the Energy industry trends and key client initiatives and apply that market intelligence to evolve the assigned study offering
- Conceptualize, define, and implement changes to CPA study scope, metrics, and deliverables to address current and future industry challenges
- Increase client value by expanding and deepening the insights that clients receive from study participation
- Application of New Technologies & Analytical Methodologies
- Apply new technologies and analytical methodologies to uncover new classes of insights from Solomon’s intellectual property and databases
- This mandate includes, but is not limited to, new insights pertaining to sustainability for the Energy industry
- Responsible for defining infrastructure improvements that increase the efficiency of both client study participation and Solomon study execution, as well as reducing the effort required to obtain meaningful performance insights
- Internal Collaboration
- Proactively collaborate with the assigned CPA Study Manager, Product Management and Intellectual Property team, and Technology Team in coordinating technical study improvement activities in alignment with company timelines and resource availability
- Supplements the assigned CPA study advisor team during study cycle, including input data review, study deliverables creation, and client results presentations
- Project Execution Support
- Assist with the execution of assigned performance improvement projects for the Energy industry segment
Education
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Petroleum) or other related engineering degrees
Preferred:
- Master’s degree and/or advanced professional degree (e.g., MBA, PhD, etc.)
Work Experience
Required:
- 12+ years of Oil, Gas, & Energy industry operating company experience and/or industry consulting or service company experience
- 8+ years of experience with plant performance management, including strategic planning, goal setting, metric design, implementation, and stewardship within the Oil, Gas, & Energy industry
Preferred:
- Career tenure spanning multiple international manufacturing and/or production facilities
- 15+ years of manufacturing or production experience in technical support, process economics, and/or production roles in the Oil, Gas, & Energy industry
Technical Skills
Required:
- Strong technical understanding of the Oil, Gas & Energy industry segment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including excellent verbal, written, listening, public speaking, and presentation skills
- Excellent people skills with the ability to successfully collaborate in a global, multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
- Strong data and performance analysis skills, with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts into simple business terms
- Ability to gain insight into customer needs; builds and delivers solutions that meet customer expectations
- Familiar with data analytics methods and tools
- Ability to manage complexity by acquiring data from multiple and diverse sources when solving problems; uncovers root causes to difficult problems
- Ability to cultivate innovation by coming up with useful ideas that are new, better, or unique; introduces new ways of looking at problems
- Ability to mobilize available internal/external resources and orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish goals
- Microsoft® Office Products – Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel®, and PowerPoint®
- Proven track record of continuous improvement and creating new and better ways for the organization to be successful
- Dedication to creating high quality solutions, delivery of high-quality work products, written proposals, and materials within deadlines and using Solomon documentation standards as appropriate
Other
- Willing to travel approximately 25% of the time, both domestically and internationally
- This position would be based in Solomon’s Dallas, Houston, Bahrain, or London UK office. Remote US locations will also be considered if candidate is not located near Solomon’s offices.
