The Opportunity

This Underwriting Operations Analyst is focused on implementing initiatives that drive strategic priorities, improve processes, and research and address issues as they arise across all MRUS functions This role will be responsible for providing high level support of technical systems, workflows, and platforms. Duties will include providing technical underwriting support, internal processing, and research assistance on complex submissions, technical and analytical expertise, as well as providing Underwriters with required reports and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Underwriting Analysis
- Provide high level support of technical underwriting, internal process and research support on complex submissions.
- Work with underwriters to ensure all assumptions are properly coded. Partner regularly with Underwriters to discuss status of new and renewal opportunities in order to ensure that the processing systems reflect the latest terms.
- Review the limits, deductibles and input terms and conditions into global and local systems.
- Perform quality control of system entries to ensure accurate financials and mitigate any resulting financial impacts
- Project Management
- Participate on global or local projects that impacts the business unit or division.
- Provide assistance to the Operations Manager and Team Lead with special projects that will better enhance our system, processes and procedures within the organization.
- Process Management
- Problem-solve issues raised by Underwriters, Accounting, Claims, and Contracts regarding business processes, transaction processing, and discrepancies.
- Business Systems/Platform Administration
- Test and communicate roll-out upgrades and enhancements, verifying and communicating system downtimes.
- Train new or less experienced employees and provide training on how to access and use global systems and databases in order to assist the production units in the underwriting process. This includes knowing the strengths and the weaknesses of each system or database as well as knowing the underlying assumptions associated with each system or database.
- Recommend process improvements, tool enhancements, testing of system and process changes.
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ in an analytic function such as underwriting, accounting, or statistical disciplines with emphasis on insurance, business, STEM, or accounting preferred
- Basic knowledge of primary and/or reinsurance underwriting process and coverages.
- Strong with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power BI).
- Reporting experience preferred; programming experience a plus.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize responsibilities to meet individual and team deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication. Self-starter, requiring minimal oversight.
