We in Munich Re's global Compliance Team live and shape integrity. We are responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the group-wide Compliance Management System (CMS). Within the Global Compliance department, the Advisory team assumes end-to-end responsibility for specific compliance programs and provides compliance expertise to all Munich Re units on various compliance topics such as financial sanctions, anti-money laundering, corruption, conduct compliance, ESG, AI and external staff.
We are now looking for an experienced and highly motivated lawyer to further enhance the excellence and quality of service within the Compliance department, focusing on selected core compliance topics within the Munich Re Group.
Your Job
- Design and manage specific compliance programs to mitigate material compliance risks
- Provide expert legal advice on selected core compliance topics and advise on the establishment of legally compliant business processes and controls
- Act as a thought leader by providing exceptional compliance expertise and acknowledged specialist knowledge in advising Munich Re's senior management and stakeholders
- Provide comprehensive project management skills, including coordination of projects with the Munich Re Reinsurance Group, ERGO and MEAG
- Monitor the adequacy and effectiveness of controls to identify potential deficits at legal entity, business unit or process level and to continuously improve specific compliance programs
- Act as a group-wide subject matter expert for selected core compliance topics and interact with peers, authorities and associations
- Manage legal changes with respect to selected core compliance topics at national and international level as well as align with the global compliance community to ensure uniform interpretation and implementation across the Munich Re Group
Your Profile
- Qualification as a lawyer with two German state examinations passed with distinction (vollbefriedigend) or equivalent qualification in the UK or US
- Several years of professional experience in the area of compliance, gained in a law firm or in an in-house position
- Ability to motivate others and take responsibility
- Strong understanding of economic and business contexts and processes
- Sound and authentic communication style
- Strong analytical and entrepreneurial approach
- Convincing demeanour and working style, characterised by a high degree of personal responsibility and willingness to take on a leadership role
- High level of commitment and responsiveness, enthusiasm, social competence and team player qualities
- Fluent in German and English
