Munich Re's hub for data, analytics, and AI is the Data And Analytics (DAA) division. It drives and coordinates projects which use Analytics and AI technology to transform complex datasets into actionable insights for our core business.
Within DAA, the Data department is the driver of Munich Re’s data strategy and the key partner for strategic and technological services around Data and Data Products. We strategically invest into externally sourced data and, together with Business and Central Units, curate internal data (structured and with growing relevance also unstructured data) to build accessible high quality Data Products. Combining external data with internal information creates unique IP for Munich Re, which powers our mission to enable the organization to generate business value by leveraging the power of data.
As part of the Data department, the Data Asset section, together with its US based sister unit, is responsible for Global Data Products. It supports the prototyping and creation of business specific Data Products and drives or supports strategic data initiatives in business and central functions. To harness the growing GenAI capabilities, the Data Asset section develops concepts, prototypes and productive solutions for building Data Products from unstructured information.
YOUR JOB
As a Data Product Manager with a strong technical background and a sound understanding of the reinsurance business, you will play a crucial role in enabling our organization to efficiently and effectively collect, curate, and leverage data. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Identify opportunities to create value from data, translate them into actionable business plans and data product designs, drive strategic decisions and successfully execute them.
- Coordinate and collaborate with global project teams with diverse backgrounds and quantitative skills, ensuring alignment and supporting the achievement of project goals.
- Manage a broad set of global stakeholders across various functions.
- Contribute to the ongoing refinement and enhancement of Munich Re’s data strategy, particularly by integrating insights from project execution into strategic guidance.
YOUR PROFILE
- Advanced degree in computer science, business administration, mathematics, or a relevant qualification involving a field of science.
- A passion for data, coupled with the energy and enthusiasm needed to lead complex projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- A business impact-oriented mindset, with an entrepreneurial spirit and a proven track record of leveraging data and technology to elevate an organization.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with project teams of motivated business and quantitative experts towards shared objectives.
- Strong relationship-building skills, particularly in working within a complex organization and aligning stakeholder interests.
- Proficiency in programming, with knowledge of Python, R, and SQL.
- Experience with Power BI, dashboards, Power Query, and other data visualization tools.
- Hands-on experience with AI, machine learning, and analytics, with the ability to apply them effectively in data-driven projects.
- A solid grasp of statistical and actuarial modeling, and their practical application in the (re)insurance industry.
- Excellent project management skills with a proven ability to deliver results in a complex, stakeholder-driven environment.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to simplify and convey complex issues to a broad audience.
- Excellent command of English
